Our School

Booker T. Washington Elementary School is a public school located in Suffolk, VA. It's one of 12 elementary schools in the Suffolk City Public Schools. Booker T. Washington Elementary School operates from September to June. It serves approximately 360 students from preschool to 5th grade and has an overall student-to-teacher ratio of 20:1.

Today, Booker T. Washington is the oldest continuing operating school in the Suffolk City School Division. In 1990, Booker T. Washington Middle School became an elementary school. Currently, the principal is Mrs. Bernette Brock and the assistant principal is Mrs. Tasha Ricks. It is a Title I school which ensures that all students, particularly those who are low-achieving, demonstrate proficient and advanced levels of achievement on State academic achievement standards.

Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child.
